Prepping doesn't have to be complex. Many of the basic survival items in your kit bag are obvious choices. It's very important not to forget the basics. A simple first aid kit, adequate knife, length of paracord, survival bag and a survival kit are the bare minimum supplies that should fill your Bug Out Bag. Where you go from there is up to you.
